About

Ion beam physics is a subfield of physics dedicated to the study of the generation, transport, manipulation, and interaction of energetic ion beams with matter. It encompasses the fundamental principles governing ion sources, beam optics, beam dynamics, and the complex physical and chemical processes resulting from ion-solid, ion-liquid, or ion-gas interactions, such as energy deposition, sputtering, implantation, and induced atomic or nuclear reactions. This field is critically important for diverse applications in materials science, surface engineering, analytical techniques, particle accelerators, controlled fusion research, and semiconductor fabrication.
